About Loren Terry

Loren is an associate in our Washington, DC office where he is a member of the firm’s strategic risk and crisis management practice. 

Prior to his time in private practice, Loren served as Investigative Counsel for U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) on the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs. In that role, he led multiple investigations, including a bipartisan review of the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a national security examination into China’s talent recruitment programs to access U.S. economic and monetary policy, and waste, fraud, and abuse in government grant programs. During law school, Loren was a law clerk for then-Chairman Portman on the U.S. Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General.

Previously, Loren served as an active-duty Surface Warfare and Public Affairs officer in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Norfolk, and the Pentagon. During his service, he made numerous deployments to the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions, and advised senior leaders on crisis communication strategies on issues such as maritime disputes and interactions, national security operations, and strategic planning.

  • Represented an international airline in a congressional investigation related to potential ethics violations
  • Conducted internal investigations for a multinational technology company regarding its content moderation practices around high-risk areas
