About Me

I am a senior associate in Freshfields' Tokyo office focusing on anti-corruption, sanctions and other regulatory matters as well as international disputes.

During my decade-long legal career in New York, Tokyo and Toronto, I gained significant experience working with multi-national and Japanese companies in energy, banking, manufacturing, trade, insurance and other sectors. I advised clients on global compliance matters, M&A due diligence, and sanctions issues. I led international arbitration processes, conducted internal investigations and represented clients in white collar investigations before the US authorities. Given my personal and professional background, I frequently assist clients on transactions, due diligence and investigations in Russia and other CIS countries.

I qualified as a Russian attorney in 1999 and was admitted to the NY State Bar in 2007. I am in the process of becoming a solicitor of England & Wales (having passed all necessary exams). My Japanese Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi qualification process is also pending.

I frequently publish on developments in anti-bribery, sanctions and international arbitration areas. In 2016, I co-authored a book "Practical Guide to Global Investigations" (translated and published in Japanese).

I speak native level Russian and English and have a working knowledge of French, Japanese and Ukrainian. I continue to focus on improving my Japanese language skills.

I am a huge fan of Japanese culture and cuisine.
